Natural Soap and Body Care Findings

My family and I were recently on a vacation in Branson, Missouri. We decided to visit Silver Dollar theme park for a day and as we walked through the amusement park I noticed a lady making all natural soap.

I immediately felt like a kid in a candy store, because I love buying all natural soap. The lady explained to me that the soap was made out of Lye and Lard. I thought, Oh no, not artery clogging lard on my skin!

As I raised questions, she asked me to feel her hands. Her hands were soft as a stick of butter. She also, explained to me that the lye in the soap helped to get rid of dry skin and I was sold!

Furthermore, I  was still a little nervous about rubbing Lard on my skin, so I browsed the internet to research lard soap. Check out some of the sites that I found about Lard and Lye in soap.

As we began to procede through the park, I noticed a sign that read: Organic Body Care. I was anxious to go inside of the "White River Bath & Body Shop" to explore their organic products. There was a variety of skin care products including:
  • bath salts
  • body creams
  • natural soaps
  • body oil
  • all natural fragrances and so much more
After smelling almost every scent in the store I decided to buy the all natural Coconut Bay Silky Body Cream, which contained: shea butter, jojoba oil and other natural ingredients. It smells so good and the scents lingers most of the day.

I asked the sales person if I could take pictures for my blog and she smiled and said, "sure." Check out the pictures below.

I love to buy all natural soap and skin care products, because organic skin care products does not contain harmful ingredients such as: parabens and propylene glycol.

Parabens are commonly used in most skin care products and they can disrupt hormone balance and mimic estrogen. Moreover, studies have shown that propylene glycol causes dermatitis, skin irritation and may cause liver abnormalities.

What I use on My Skin
I currently use Origins Clean energy to clean and moisturize my face and all natural soap to bathe daily. Before buying the lye and lard soap, I needed to apply oil to my skin. Now, I only apply the Coconut bay body cream to my hands and feet. The all natural soap that is made with Lard and Lye, leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized.

  1. Wow. I am so amazed by your story. I never had imagined at first of having lard on soap. But if it is really effective in giving moisture to skin then y not. :) this is quite interesting.
