Garden Therapy For The Soul

Garden Therapy for the Soul

Garden Therapy have been used throughout history to aid in the healing process according to the St. Louis Yoga & Spa Magazine article tiltled, Tranquil Garden Spas. As one sits and enjoys the beauty of nature, there is an escape to serenity. Moreover, enjoying the beauty of nature, listening to the sound of birds chirping, makes life seem so much more peaceful and enjoyable.

Roger Ulrich, a professor and director of the Center for Health Systems and Design at Texas A & M University, discovered that viewing natural scenes or elements fosters stress recovery by evoking positive feelings, reducing negative emotions, holding attention and reducing stressful thoughts.

Gay Goeslling, a trained Landscape Architect, Environmental Artist and Healing Garden Specialist says, "There is a need to reconnect with the natural world, an anchor that will let us bring more ephemeral discoveries back into our lives." Gay's sculptures and healing gardens are microcosms of the natural world.

The next time that you need to relax and get away from the stress of life, try some garden therapy and reconnect with the natural world!
