Natural Sweeteners are Healthier For our Bodies

"The average American consumes 158 pounds of sugar a year- 50 teaspoons a day! ~ Dr. Don Colbert/ "I Can Do this Diet."

Consuming too much sugar will increase your chances of developing heart disease, Type II Diabetes, plaque formation in our arteries, weight gain and many other health problems that are attributed to consuming too much sugar.

Foods that are high in sugar include: candy, cupcakes, pies doughnuts and sodas. In fact, one 12-ounce sodas contains 8 to 10- teaspoons of sugar.

Avoid the use of unnatural sweeteners! Dr. Colbert does not recommend the use of sweeteners that contain aspartame or sucralose. Natural sweeteners are approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar!

Three Natural Sweeteners

1. Stevia- is an herbal sweetener that can be used in coffee or tea. It is 200 times sweeter than sugar and has 0 calories!

2. Xylitol- is a sugar alcohol and is very low in glycemic index value (the glycemic gives a indication of the rate at which different carbs and foods break down to release sugar into the bloodstream) kills bacteria and prevents dental cavities.

3. Chicory- Chicory root is a probiotic that helps improve the GI functions; calcium, reduce blood pressure, prevents heart attacks and dental problems.

Now that you know natural sweeteners are much safer and healthier for our bodies. Give Natural Sweeteners a Try! You will find natural sweeteners at your local whole foods or Trader Joes store.
